Introduction

Unfortunately, everyone makes mistakes. Sometimes mages accidentally cast less believable spells when they think no one is looking, but someone sees it. When this happens, it is called "paradox," and it can be terrifying for all parties involved. The sleeper sees something utterly unbelievable and the spell usually fails or becomes corrupted. Depending on the sleeper's mental state, he might think he was dreaming or his eyes played a trick on him. Or he might be certain he saw something and try to tell others, in which case he will be considered a loony. As for the mage, it's impossible to predict what might happen. He might temporarily develop a nervous habit, or he might permanently go insane, depending on how many people saw his spell. Needless to say, even the most brash and rebellious of mages don't use "vulgar" magic in front of sleepers. At least the sane ones don't.
