Lose-lose. 12/15/2008
This past weekend, I was invited to a party, but I wasn't really interested in going for various reasons. One of them being that the main activity was getting drunk (or so I was led to believe). It seems like that's all anyone my age can do for fun, and it really bugs me. I wish there were some kind of activity that most people liked to do that didn't revolve around drinking. I realize that will probably never happen, but whatever.

Anyway, the point of this post is to discuss the situation that I am placed in all too often: My friends want me to do something with them, but I'm not really interested in the activity. However, I like hanging out with my friends, so I don't want to disappoint them. What the hork am I supposed to do? The situation basically has two outcomes as I see it: either bite the bullet and go do something I'm not interested in, or stay home and do what I want to do, but feel terrible for disappointing my friends. It's a lose-lose situation, and I find myself in it all the horking time. For the few readers of this junk, I'm open to suggestion.

Ugh, I agree about the getting drunk thing. Thatz a tough set o' circumstances. I can think of some possible solutions but they all require a lot of work on your part. If you enjoy hanging out with friends but not he drunk part you could take the initiative and organize activities that don't focus on drinking (such as movies, dinners, Rock Band). Then you can hang out and do stuff you like. Otherwise, itz either biting the bullet and going or enjoyin' a night by yourself. Perhaps switching between the 2 outcomes would make them less painful? This isn't a huge possibility but maybe try getting some new friends who don't enjoy getting plastered all the time.

if you don't want to go, then don't go, it's that simple.

Just stop having friends. Then you don't have to go, and you don't have to disappoint them.

Luke: Unfortunately, I'm not motivated enough to organize junk on my own. Nate: NOPE. Glenn: Excellent quote. Andy: I've done that some of the tyme, but I still feel bad because I like to hang out with my friends. Ryan: Haha, I'll take it into consideration.
