Chapter 3, Enemies Abound

The butler raised an eyebrow at us and asked us what our professions were. We responded with mechanic, private eye, and musician and he was clearly not impressed. He led us in to a lavishly furnished room to wait. It even had a bookshelf full of old, thick books that no one would actually read. I walked around and looked at the cameras and figured out a few places that they didn't cover. We waited for about 20 minutes and the butler came back down and apologized, saying it would be just a bit longer. I decided that I would steal something by way of revenge, finally settling on a bust of some literary figure that no one cares about. After some more waiting, I decided that something must be up and I scried on the butler. He was simply watching us from a security room on the cameras. I waved at a camera and he blinked in surprise. Finally, after about 40 minutes of waiting, the butler came back down and apologized again and said that Mr. Linderman was unable to see us today, and that we should call again later.
