Prologue

They got down to the water and walked for a bit. I know all about the "long walks on the beach" deal, but then something I never expected happened. The guy picked up the girl, slung her over his shoulder, and ran towards some nearby sea caves. I followed, but I was dreading it. Sea caves are never good. I heard the girl screaming and hustled after him. I can move pretty fast when I need to, but I just could not keep up with this guy. He must have been a track star. I kept my flashlight off, but my footsteps had to have been loud. I was almost sprinting and this guy was getting away, while carrying a struggling person. Then, the screaming stopped. I continued a little further and saw the silhouette of the guy. He turned around and looked directly at me. So much for stealth. I flipped on my flashlight and the guy took off again. Only now, instead of following screams, I was following a trail of blood.
