Prologue

I don't know how long I followed this guy. It felt like hours, and that's a long time when you're chasing someone. I didn't have much time to look around, but I could swear I was moving through the same tunnels over and over again. But I kept track of which turns I took. It shouldn't have been possible. Eventually, I came to a large room with a spiral staircase at the back. The guy was standing there, doing something. As soon as I got into the room, he ran up the stairs, but we weren't alone anymore. The shadows coming from the room began to stretch out towards me, becoming twisted and menacing. I fired my handgun once and bolted past them and up the stairs. I could feel the shadows following me. By now, I was exhausted from all this running and came to a door at the top of the stairs. I opened it and entered into a long hallway filled with statues. I slowed down to catch my breath, but the shadows from the statues began to come after me again. This time, there were too many of them and they got ahold of me.
